First the good news: Silvio Berlusconi didn't win the Italian election. But the bad news is disturbing enough. Center-left leader Pier Luigi Bersani was unable to win control of the Senate, meaning that a stable government in Italy looks unlikely. The results for Europe could be devastating.

In his article, which seems to me to be grossly germano-centric, the author makes a few comments that seem woefully out of place. For examole, "After all, he (Berlusconi) remains fuelled by a powerful motivation: that of protecting himself from the Italian judiciary. ". Perhaps Germany does not know that it is the Italian juidiciary system that is sick and in need of reform. The European and US media has distorted italian politics to fit their picture and it is not accurate.
Italians are sick of Mr. Monti and half the italians did not vote for Mr. Bersani. That Grillo has obtained a high youth vote is not surprising since in the past year, Italian youth unemployment has risen to never before seen high values. What are they to do? The Euro centric ideas have put the country in misery. Perhaps the bankers (like Mr. Monti) have done well. But, please, refrain from making untrue judgements about other countries politics. |
