The European horsemeat scandal arrived in Germany this week with the discovery of mislabeled quantities in frozen lasagne and other goods. On the editorial pages, the country's newspapers take a critical look at the scandal and how consumers helped create it.

Not sure whos to blame NL or RO but this kind of mix up needs to be stopped. The company who is responsible needs to step down because this is not just a accident. I hope all the horse meat being pulled from the stores etc is sold as horse meat to those who consume horse meat. I would hate to know all those horses they gather around romania go to waste. I know there are ads all over romania offering a price per pound for your horse. It used to be a special meat, not a commercialized meat like beef or even a lower ranking meat. I quit eating beef living in the states, now moved back home to Hungary.... maybe once in a great while will eat a beef stew or soup but after seeing what they do in western europe and the usa to cows, now hearing horse meat mixed in makes it bottom of my list of meats I would eat. Cheers!
