Default Germany's Abstention: Berlin Stuck in the Middle on Palestinian Vote

Ahead of the United Nations vote that is set to recognize a Palestinian state, Germany has announced it will abstain. The move reveals Berlin's complicated foreign policy loyalties on the issue -- and once again reveals Europe's inability to reach consensus on a key foreign policy issue.

Default Why are German Ministers so weak?

At first glance , despite all the breaches of international law, one might ask; Why do so many European nations support Israel?
Those of us who were born before WW2 and have been able to observe the difference between factual and written history, are left with a suspicion and distrust towards all politicians.
The holocaust, despite all possible manipulations of presentation, will always remain a crime to be used as an example for how human-beings should not be treated. Nevertheless the descendants of the former victims are little better, when dealing with their own adversaries.
Could it possibly be, that the real reason for the support of Israel, has less to do with a just solution for the middle East, as with the fear, that should that re-established nation fail, the inhabitants will return to Europe? In the 1920s Germany was not alone in seeking an answer to what then was called “the Jewish problem.”
For many countries Hitler was a useful idiot who, because of his actions, could be used by them, to put all the blame on Germany as a whole for what happened then and has happened ever since.
It is unfortunate, for the Germany of today, and so also detrimental for the native population of Palestine, that so many German politicians in the government, know so little about the true historical facts of both Europe and the Middle East.
This absence of knowledge is often used by others to influence German policies and leads to an uncertain portrait of German conceptions, when dealing with matters of international importance.

Complicated and dangerous to our future.Ms. Merkel has been had from behind and ended up in nomans land, what an awful decision from her party.

This is not Germany's decision but that of a few vested interest ( Dolphin class subs), false guilt and lack of spine has led to this. Germany's people would not have voted like this and I hope they will tell her at the next election.
