In a SPIEGEL interview, German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich talks about the failures of Germany's intelligence agencies in relation to the neo-Nazi terror cell, a possible attempt to ban the far-right NPD party and attempts by German right-wingers to provoke Muslims by showing "Innocence of Muslims."

It should be allowed to watch the film, of course. Unfortunately, you need a great amount of humour to stay there until the end. The movie is only enjoyable with soulmates you can laugh with about the dilettantism of the producers. Given the cruelties Copts have endured in the last time I can understand that Mohammed is mocked in the film. It's really quite strange that the Christians in the Middle East are suffering so much by policy for which their brothers in the West are responsible. The overthrow of Hussein caused them to flee Iraq. In Syria the same will happen.

Whether one explores the domain of politics, football fans, or religious fanatics, it can be observed that there have always been people with little, or no respect for human life. The deliberate provocation of such people is, to say the least, more than stupid. It is however just as true, that many of these extremists look for insults where none are intended. For a government, or its ministers, to back down and restrict the democratic rights of their own citizens, in order to pacify those who threaten violence, is not a satisfactory answer to this Problem. On the contrary, this will just encourage these immature individuals to carry out yet more vicious actions without justification.

Deutschland needs a bill of rights, guaranteeing free speech. However, if you let the anti-Moslems, anti-Christians, and neos have their say, it won't be pretty.
