Default 1972 Olympics Massacre: Germany's Secret Contacts to Palestinian Terrorists

Eleven Israelis and one German police officer died in the Munich massacre of 1972, when Palestinian terrorists took Israeli athletes hostage at the Olympics. Now, government documents suggest that Germany maintained secret contacts with the organizers of the attack for years afterward and appeased the Palestinians to prevent further bloodshed on German soil.

Default doesn't it matter to any one?

It seems that I am the first to reply to this article. This seems like the same as my government's (USA) support of groups that support the overthrow of the Government of Chile in the 70s. I would have thought the Germans racial history on the folly of appeasing violence and their advocates would have served as a guide in this sad situation. It seems for both our countries that we learn nothing from history and so are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over.

Default There is more to this story

An Israel journalist said yesterday on Israeli tv that the Lufthansa hijack was staged by the Palestinians and the secret service of Germany, to have an excuse to let the captured Palestinian terrorists go free. He said the "passengers" were all security personnel. Can Der Spiegel check this, or does anyone know more about this?

Default Staged Luftansa Hijack?

@honestbroker The documentary One Day in September makes the same claim: the Luftansa hijack was a setup, to have an excuse to let the captured Palestinian terrorists go. Check out Wikipedia for One Day in September. I saw this documentary years ago and was shocked by the gross incompetence of the German government, but even more by the idea that the Germans would take appeasement that far.

Not too long ago, I read an interview with a former member of the Iranian Revolutionairy Guard, who defected and became a spy for the CIA, in which he claimed that governments in Western Europe gave a green light to the Iranians to kill Iranian dissidents living as refugees in Europe, as long as none of their own citizens were killed.

I don't have any proof, but somehow I'm not surprised anymore. I can recommend watching One Day in September though.
