The mood at the Vatican is apocalyptic. Pope Benedict XVI seems tired, and both unable and unwilling to seize the reins amid fierce infighting and scandal. While Vatican insiders jockey for power and speculate on his successor, Joseph Ratzinger has withdrawn to focus on his still-ambiguous legacy.

"He will be remembered as a church leader with a human face, as someone who has remained true to himself as a theologian, and as someone who turned his back on the power within his own four walls" These comments are right from a Catholic Chiristian perspective but not from the followers of other groups or religions. His controversial remarks at Regensburg University Germany in year 2006 about Holy Book of Islam or its Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)makes him quite controvercial in the eyes of those having different belief.

"He will be remembered as a church leader with a human face..."
By me, he will be remembered as the Pope who was consigned as a Nazi Youth, and no matter WHY this was, he and his parents did nothing to break away from all that evil. Guilt by Association in my book, and on the day he was made Pope, MY Church ceased to have a leader. He was criticized for keeping the sexual abuse scandals covered up, and THAT would be completely in character for someone who was involved with the evil Nazi Youth. No other scandals could ever surpass the day Roman Catholic Cardinals decided on electing an evil Nazi as Pope. ANYTHING that comes after that - the Roman Catholic Church brought upon itself. Like the best US Presidents should be SMARTER than the American public, Catholic Popes SHOULD be "Holier than thou". In this case, he's not. |

"Finally, there is clarity. The Holy See has cleared things up and made the document accessible to all: a handout on checking whether apparitions of the Virgin Mary are authentic.
Everything will be much easier from now on. The Roman Catholic Church has taken a step forward." To what document does this passage allude? |
