Default Israel's Other Temple: Research Reveals Ancient Struggle over Holy Land Supremacy

The Jews had significant competition in antiquity when it came to worshipping Yahweh. Archeologists have discovered a second great temple not far from Jerusalem that predates its better known cousin. It belonged to the Samaritans, and may have been edited out of the Bible once the rivalry had been decided.

"the Jewish people wove an entire biblical tale around their small, southern kingdom. According to this story, around 1000 BC the biblical King David ruled from Jerusalem over a glorious kingdom. His son Solomon allegedly built in the city a temple....

"Total nonsense: Not a single shred of archaeological evidence has ever been found to confirm the existence of Solomon's Temple."

Let me see now, the Arab Muslim Waqf in Jerusalem prevents ANY archaeology anywhere near the Temple Mount, and has actually used construction equipment there, actively destroying any ancient evidence of Herod's Temple, let alone anything earlier. Therefore OF COURSE we haven't found evidence of it--as the Arabs have not allowed it--as politically, it would not fit their mythical history, that the Jews never had any Temple there.

A tiny Arab cult--claiming descent from the Biblical Samaritans--has a different spin on history--along with a word or two different in Qumran scrolls. Thererfore this PROVES, THE WHOLE BIBLICAL record is a conspiracy plot, written, naturally, by Jews!

This story has a familiar ring to it--of attitudes from a time 70+ years ago.

Default Not really (article is inaccurate)

a/ No religious Jew considers YHVH to be written or pronounced Yahveh.

b/ "Total nonsense: Not a single shred of archaeological evidence has ever been found to confirm the existence of Solomon's Temple"

Really?
