It seems to me that Russian orthodox priest must have always taken care of those who were in need of help since even at the time when that Tsars ruled monks in remote monasteries like Kaleria where many famous cloisters were built on island in the Onega- and Ladogasea the monks were ordered to look after people, however, in a different way - political convicts were imprisoned in abbeys and guarded by clergymen. Chained to walls, they never left the dark basements again. Despite its rude methods Russian orthodoxy can claim that of all religions it has managed to bring up the most fascinating priests in the last 150 years. Rasputin is one of them. Only the catholic church can compete with them.

The police will come after you in Capitalism too, only they have different methods for dealing with dissidents. In the 60s they would merely imprison someone on a trumped up charge. Now society itself is a prison, with sattelites and cameras everywhere

Those priests actually kicked everyone out at one point. It was some little monastery in the area known as 'Alphabet City' in New York. They just sort of threw this Russian Orthodox place in with all these Puerto Ricans. Thats a hard place to get a job!

Ignoring a person can sometimes be a much more effective weapon than denouncing a person’s opinion in way that just stirs the attention of people. In a certain sense you must have a certain amount of sensitivity to find the right level to deal with people who have opinions of which can be concluded that they want to abolish the existing political system.

That's true, I do that as well. I ignore George Bush and Republicans. I am working now on ignoring Europeans. I find its useless to talk to Europeans, as they are idiots. With more practice, I should be able to ignore the annoying Europeans as well as the repulsive Republicans. Europeans are assholes. I like life and I want to live. Europeans and Republicans will knock you down. Stand up against fascists in Europe and the USA.

I myself do not want to destroy the existing political system, but I am from the USA, so I have many problems dealing with such an archetypal nation. All the assholes in Europe want us to be "Americans" and fight some racist war for natural resources in a land that doesnt belong to us, so the Germans can make money from embedded journalist war documentaries. I have to find some neutral ground, where I can live like a normal person, even though I am inescapably American, even though foreigners will have stupid fantasies about my land, though I am living here not unlike anyone might live anywhere in the world.

Btraven is some Israeli agent prowling the net with penis envy of Americans. Just because my penis is bigger than yours in Europe, dont hate me for being American. Its a shame that his name is the name of a Socialist writer, since he is obviously not one. Its really true though, foreigners often hate Americans because they think our penises are bigger here and that we will take their slutty women. I am not just trying to provoke the British who have this fear of small penis size native to the English conscious.

Dont feel frustrated and hate? When you think of how the Germans are so carefully shielded by the cliche bullshit in their minds? You cannot penetrate the cliches that shield the European ego. Europeans will never realize that the USA is just another nation. For these idiots, the USA will always be made to seem relevant to everything else. I consider the U.S. still as an experiment, and if they have been shielded so far by military, this things do not have the same value as before.

The USA is not very experimental unfortunately. For me, growing up in the states, it is very "everyday". For Americans whose grandparents are born in the USA, and even great grandparents, it's hard to think of this place as an experiment. It is very "everyday". Europeans may think it is exotic, but that is one-sided: every inch of the planet is bound to be exotic for someone, and an everyday home for someone else. That is the core of tourism.

That's what foreigners cant understand, when Americans move overseas to live, they think of the USA as an exciting experiment, but its quite banal. As you say, our prowess is military, and military is the most banal response of all to any given event. To live banally in Germany is not unlike living banally in the USA.
