Hitler salutes in the street and firing practice in the forest: Neo-Nazis have taken over an entire village in Germany, and authorities appear to have given up efforts to combat the problem. The place has come to symbolize the far right's growing influence in parts of the former communist east.

Good article, however, the author fails to mention that the rural exodus which has begun soon after or even just before the unification has made it possible that villages like Jamel can be dominated by one person. There are not many people left. It would be interesting to know how many inhabitants had lived there before the collapse of GDR. I have read that in agriculture the ownership structure is similar to one Mecklenburg-Pomerania had at the beginning of WWI when the infamous “Junker” possessed most of the land. It means that less people can find a job in agriculture because of the high mechanisation and monoculture that process has entailed so far. It’s terrible for an area which lacks industry.

When similar things have happened from the other side of the political spectrum, nobody lifts an eyebrow, much less a clamor: over the past 47 years, all in the name of the "Great Society," {LMAO} large sections of cities---nay, entire cities---have been taken over by various stripes of barbarians---all with the "help" of the Gramscians, but the whole thing is shrugged off...all in the name of "diversity" and "multiculturalism."
